Being a Girl Boss Advisor

Naomi Elim, Social Worker

Early September, I was thrilled to be among the Girl Boss Advisors and together with a team of creative women entrepreneurs we embarked in training an entrepreneurial curriculum to girls that have never been on such a journey before.

Starting on a high note, we have enjoyed and learnt very critical skills such as resilience, critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, effective communication, and the list goes on.

Currently at Level Four and the girls’ attitude/mindset, confidence, creativity, active participation, and enthusiasm to learn is on a high level different from when we started.

Our world and economies are constantly changing; COVID-19 and climate change being recent examples which we have seen and felt. The traditional jobs our parents held and skills those jobs required are rapidly changing and so a lot is demanded of young women. The core skills needed however are the same ones outlined in the curriculum we are learning; entrepreneurial skills, leadership skills, digital skills and confidence.

I have so far enjoyed and had fulfilling experiences taking girls through the incredible planner which is deemed to help them pursue their dreams confidently, unlock their potential for a successful future and completely change their life and that of their families positively.
