Title: Registered Nurse
Location: On-site at The Leo Project (TLP) Headquarters in Jua Kali, Nanyuki, Kenya

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Registered Nurse will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care at The Caitlin O’Hara Community Health Clinic. This role involves clinical assessment, implementation of nursing interventions, health education, and collaboration with clinicians and community partners to promote preventive care and improved health outcomes for individuals and families.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Care & Patient Management
Assess patient health needs, develop and implement management plans, and provide appropriate nursing interventions.
Monitor, evaluate, and document patient outcomes to ensure continuity and quality of care.
Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments in accordance with clinical protocols and under the direction of the clinician in charge.
Order, perform, and assist with diagnostic tests as appropriate, and report findings to the clinician in charge.
Conduct antenatal and postnatal assessments, including monitoring maternal and newborn health.
Educate mothers on pregnancy care, newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum health.
Provide sexual and reproductive health services, including HIV testing assessments, counseling, and treatment.
Provide family planning counseling and services tailored to individual client needs.
Health Education & Community Engagement
Provide health education and counseling to clients regarding treatment plans, medication adherence, and health maintenance.
Educate individuals and the community on disease prevention, health promotion, and priority public health needs.
Care Coordination & Referrals
Identify clients with complex or high-risk care needs.
Initiate timely referrals to referral hospitals or higher levels of care and escalate concerns appropriately.
Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma in Registered Nursing
3+ years of experience in nursing at a community clinic setting
Registration certificate and practicing license issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
Fluent in Kiswahili and English.
WORKING CONDITIONS
TLP operates Monday - Friday, approximately 9:00am - 6:00pm, with occasional Saturday hours.
